Born in North Arlington, NJ – raised in Glen Rock, NJ; lived in Livingston, Elmwood Park and most recently in Passaic, NJ. Pre-deceased by his father, Irving Auerbach, mother Betty Lyons Auerbach and his brother Neil Auerbach.
Mark is survived by his son, Scott Auerbach (Leslie Wallace), grandson Reid Auerbach; brother Eric Auerbach (Joan Andes), nephew Ian Auerbach and his cousins Robyn and Wayne Goldman. Mark was a graduate of Glen Rock High School and earned a degree at Bridgeport University in Connecticut. Mark worked for New York Life as well as ADP.
Mark was an active member of the National Fraternal Order of Police, NJ Lodge #046 and served as a Lieutenant in the Essex County Sheriffs Department for over 20 years. He enjoyed travelling with his family when he was younger. Cruises around the world and trips out West.
Mark’s passion was his family and friends – always the most talkative one! Loved the holidays and spending time “chatting with the boys” with a good cigar and glass of wine. Mark loved animals and was a contributor to the Rescue Animal Shelters in NJ. He was an avid Giant fan – season ticket holder and made sure over the last 65 years he went to every game with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 7th at New Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus NJ. Promptly at 11:30 at gravesite. Family will sit Shiva at home of Eric and Joan Auerbach’s home in Wyckoff, NJ immediately after the service and through Thursday evening.
