Miriam Marcus
Sunday, 05 August 1928 - Thursday, 14 May 2020
Funeral Date: Sunday, 17 May 2020

Miriam (Kushner) Marcus, daughter of Joseph and Edith, passed away on May 14, 2020, at the age of 91. Miriam, better known as Mimi, was a beloved daughter, wife, sister, mother and grandmother. A former art teacher, Mimi put her teaching career on pause to raise her three children, Eric, Seth and Joann, but eventually returned to her roots, running an after-school program at a local elementary school. Mimi was an avid tennis player, playing mostly with her friends, but also with her husband, Rubin, on the family's annual Caribbean vacation. She bowled regularly in a local league and actively supported the American Cancer Society, where she served as president of the local chapter. When the home became an empty nest, she and Rubin eventually made the decision to sell their long-time home in Woodmere and move into NYC, where they enjoyed dining out, dance performances and Broadway shows. After Rubin's passing, Mimi moved to New Jersey, near two of her children and their families, where she stayed for the rest of her life. She welcomed into the family her son- and daughters-in-law, Oliver (Joann), Renee (Seth) and Ellen (Eric). She was always proud of her children, and even prouder of her grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Rebecca, Ethan, Jacob and Samantha, as anyone who came within earshot will tell you. She was the maker of family dinners (except when it was time to barbecue, as that was her husband, Rubin's domain), mender of clothes, kisser of boo-boos, family chauffeur and keeper of the which-relative-is-that knowledge. She will be deeply missed
