Eva Kahn passed peacefully at home in Englewood, NJ on Monday, February 12, 2018. She was born in Dusseldorf, Germany on April 1, 1925 and immigrated to South Africa on the eve of WW II. In 1962 Eva and her family moved to the United States, first to Baltimore, MD and then to Englewood, NJ where she resided for 55 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Dr. Eric Kahn, former Director of Pediatrics at Harlem Hospital in New York City and Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics of Columbia University, and later by her partner Mr. John Randall (Randy) Gritzan. Eva was a clinical social worker and Director of Professional Services at Jewish Family Services of Northern New Jersey in Wayne from 1971-1987. She subsequently opened a private psychotherapy practice. After retiring in the late 1980's she traveled widely becoming an award winning nature photographer, specializing in landscapes, wildlife and macro photography. Her work has been published in books and newspapers, and has been exhibited at Fairleigh Dickenson University, Bergen Community College, Hackensack, Teaneck, Englewood, Ringwood and Morristown public libraries, senior residences, corporate offices and other locales. Eva is survived by her two sons, Dr. David Kahn (Elizabeth Cole) of Wyckoff, and Colin Kahn (Amiet Goldman) of Morris Plains. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Eric, Lydia, Ethan and Sara.
