Albert Davis, of Fair Lawn, born in Portland, Maine on July 6, 1923, passed away April 22, 2021.
Predeceased by son Mark and brother Leon, he is survived by his wife, Frances, (nee Parker) of 65 years. He leaves his cherished older son, Jerry and wife Dawn, twin grandchildren, Brad and Jamie of Randolph, N.J., together with dear nieces and nephews.
After serving in the U.S. Army in both WWII & the Korean War, Al went on to earn a Liberal Arts Degree from University of Maine; a Masters from the University of New Hampshire and attended New York University.
An avid baseball fan and a dedicated teacher, he combined both interests by coaching Little League with the cooperation of the borough and held weekly baseball seminars for 16 years; it was open to all youngsters. He served as Worshipful Master of the Masons and Chairman of the Society of Management. He was elected to County Committeeman in his Fair Lawn district.
With a wry sense of humor, a passion for education, a deep devotion to family and a thrilling singing voice, Al was a man for all seasons. An Adjunct Professor at St. Peter’s College, Fordham University and Rutgers, Al was also employed by Hewitt Mfg. Co., serving as its Vice President.
Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday, April 26, 2021 at Robert Schoem’s Menorah Chapel, 150 Rt. 4 East, Paramus, officiated by his nephew, Rabbi Stephen Gold; internment will follow at King Solomon Memorial Park, Clifton, N.J.
